I Am Legend.
Watch it last night... meh. Could of been so good, let down by a terrible ending.
2/10
AvP2.
The only redeeming factor of this film was the fact that
a) it involved Aliens
b) it involved Predators
c) it involved Aliens killing Predators
d) some (read some) of the cool kills. (there should of been WAY more awesome deaths)
Besides that it was cack.
2/10
Rambo (IV):
Again another film I was looking forward too. It was ok, some cool deaths and effects but Rambo didn't do enough.
6/10
Shoot 'Em Up.
Awesomely awesome. Every second was brilliant and the stunts and effects were so over the top it was perfect.
10/10

Revolver - Interesting....not as good as Ritchie's other films, but certainly worth a look.
Children of Men - Wow. See this movie, that's all I have to say.
Shoot Em Up - Requires colossal suspension of disbelief, but once you're past that it's just a blast. No pun intended either, the movie was just a hell of a lot of fun.
Black Hawk Down - Hadn't seen it since it was in theaters. Hated it then, rather enjoyed it this time around.

I just saw Jumper. Honestly, I was kind of let down. It was rather slow-paced at times, and the action wasn't nearly as intense and "long" as the first Bourne movie -- the director of that one also directed this.
Also, there were quite a handful of plot holes.. but.. eh.. I wanted to see it also because I'm a fanboy and I like Hayden Christensen.
6/10.

Just finished watching The Kingdom.
Started out strong enough, good palpable emotional stuff, good politicking, nicely shot and acted. But toward the end it just turned into a run-of-the-mill action flick with just a hint of Islamophobia.
Also (re)watched Blazing Saddles earlier tonight. That movie just never gets old.
Devilish.

Just watched Hitman
7/10 just because I loved the game and some of the action scenes were pretty cool. I watched that last night as well myself and I thought it was garbage. It was way too much like The Bourne Identity. Professional killer fucks up, there's a girl around, they get together, they develop an emotional bond while all the time she has to try and work around his hang-ups because he's been trained to the point of near-brainwash, cue some action and shoot-ups, blah blah blah, etc.

You must be the only one.
I honestly jumped for joy when I read in an interview that he was done with acting once Star Wars Ep.3 was in the can. I should've known it couldn't last.

And funny you mention that about him quitting acting; I thought about that yesterday afternoon about him saying he was done with acting, Hollywood, and all of that. LUCKY FOR ME THAT HE ISN'T. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Watched Lawrence of Arabia tonight, haven't seen it in ages and ages so it was like seeing it for the first time all over again.
This is what filmmaking is. On-location, tons of extras, explosions are explosions, and most importantly no CGI. I like classic cinema so much more than new stuff.

- Jesus Camp: I watched only about 70% of it because I couldn't take the bullshit anymore and it really just kind of got boring and repetitive.
- Blood Diamond: I watched this a couple days ago and really loved it! I think DiCaprio is still an amazing actor...And the girl was freaking hot! Anyway, the movie rocked...very intense, very sad. Go watch it!
- Jumper: Watched this one yesterday...it was okay....nothing special... To me it felt kind of Matrix-like with the agents going after him and stuff.... I dunno. I didn't like that part too much.... The idea of teleporting and making a movie based around it is pretty sweet but I feel like they didn't exhaust their options...

Yeah, its fucking great. Recommend it to anyone. According to my Rhodesian mate, he got the accent spot on in that one.
No Country For Old Men – Enjoyed it, but cant agree that it was the great film that people said it was and that it deserved so many awards. Good, but wish the characters, especially the sociopath had been fleshed out a bit. Was left feeling a little like maybe I’d missed something when it ended.
Been given a copy of King Of Kong. Its about some 30yr old dudes who compete to get the highest scores at Donkey Kong. IMDB reviews are bretty ‘thumbs up’, anyone wlse seen it?

Watched Knight's Tale the other day again. I am always impressed by how entertaining that movie is despite it's HUGE historical flaws. But then I realize that's because it doesn't give two shits about being accurate. It's a fun movie, that's all it wants to be. Nothing brilliant or insightful or any sort of cinematic masterpiece, just some dudes and some chicks and some crap happening.
And it has Wash.

There Will Be Blood - 8/10
Excellent movie. Great acting by D. D. Lewis, though it got sort of slapsticky at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Big Lebowski - 10/10
I've seen it a few dozen times. Absolutely love it. If you haven't seen this, do so. It only gets funnier the more times you watch it.

Just got my new Uber flat screen and will be rewatching all my dvds again. Oh happy days. :D
First up, was The Madness of King George. Great film, especialy the first twenty mins with the courtiers discussing the pompus stupidity of Royal custom and pomp, especialy the MPs commenting on how they have to put up with it, but a few farmers across the Atlantic managed to send the king packing. Not sure on the historic accuracy, but well recomended.
Then, Gremlins. Great movie, and I still crack up seeing the Gremlins sining to Snow White in the cinema. Shame such a total unfunny mess was made of the sequal.
I got a good quality HDMI lead for my new DVD player, but for my Sky box, should I be using a Scart lead, or the compnent leads to get best picture ? ie: the red, yellow & white seperate cables ?

Watched Pan's Pans Labyrinth last night for the first time. (Not to be confused with the Jim Henson movie staring David Bowe and Jenifer Connelly). I think I might have to like it a second time before I can say I liked it or disliked it. I found it to be interesting and unsettling. I kept getting this feeling that "The Legend of Zelda" would play out like this film if [the game] were M rated.
The freaky-baby-eating-hand-eye-guy was cool looking. I'd give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.

I hate to double post (although I am going to) I happened to see another movie recently. I had to share that I watched "Black Snake Moan", with Sam Jackson and Christina Ricci (also with Justin Timberlake). If you recall any of the marketing surrounding this film you would remember that it was billed as a comedy. This is totally false. Not only a false but a complete misrepresentation of the movie.
Here's what they made the movie look like:
Black man chains up slutty white woman- Hilarity ensues!!!
Here's what happens in the movie:
Sexually abused woman has problems with addiction to drugs and sex. Gets beaten and left for dead after a party. Sam Jackson finds this girl on the side of the road. Nurses her back to health. Chains her up to keep her from running away (which is where the movie gets kind of wierd... but you just go with it) and he becomes sort of a mentor that she never had.
All in all this movie really wasn't that great. However, based on the previews that I had seen it completely blew any and all of my expectations away. If you are mature enough to watch a movie with some real life subject material then I recomend you watch this movie. (I don't recomend you watch this movie if all you wish to see is Ricci's breasts... Which you do get to see briefly in the film).

seriously the movie is just about plants talking to other plants that release some weird chemical or something that makes people kill themselves and it does something to the brain that turns off a safety mechanism that keeps us from hurting ourselves. at the end of the movie there was a news show or whatever on the television and the reporter asked why it happened and the scientist said noone knows why, probably an act of nature noone will ever understand.

Kinda like Atonement, I really enjoyed it as I did Atonement because as long as the love story is set during WW1 or WW2, I can dig it. Also the style and plot sequence was done very well.

Rambo. Thumbs up. Great boys film with oodles of over the top violence. Silly story with little background and the SAS guys cliche' lines where the only negative point and it grated a bit. Considering that the SAS guys have to spend time out in that area as part of their jungle training, they are known to have a huge respect for the people out there and their 'jungle skills'. Apart from that, I'd recommend this film to all of you.
