i just installed battlefield 1942. i haven't played this game since i first bought it in 2002 or something ?

i was looking over the system requirements and it says that bf1942 will run on a 500 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, and 64 MB video card.

i installed it and played with everything at the highest quality and the game is so slow and jerky that you would think it was the shit.

right now i have a 2.54 Mhz CPU, 1 gig RAM, and a 128 video card. And STILL the game runs like this ? the reason i never played bf1942 when i got it, was because my system wasn't good enough, and now it seems it STILL isn't ?

Can ANYONE run this game smooth ?

A 128Mb video card doesnt mean much if the particular card model still sucks.

For example:
A 8600 GTS with a 675Mhz core clock, 2016Mhz memory clock, and 512Mb memory size is going to preform barely half as well as a 8800GT at 660Mhz, 1900Mhz and 512Mb.

I owned portrait of ruin, but I got to death, and it killed my desire to play video games. Ha ha. I'm going back and trying Dawn of Sorrow now. Try out Bleach if you get a chance, and if you like fighting games. It feel a lot like Marvel Vs Capcom mashed up with the Alpha series SF games. Pretty good stuff. Works great on the handheld, surprisingly.

How olds the engine ? I'm only running a 8600GT but it can look fucking amazing in places. Specialy some of the American missions on foot and the SAS boat assault at the begining when the shadows and lighting are at their best.

Also playing Call of Juarez. Just started, but it makes a change from machine guns and lasers.

Yea he is, but I think if he was given time to grow he would absolutely rape face. I remember I took the two alien broads on a mission with me when we were all at level 40 something. I didn't even have to kill anyone, the chick in the mask went charging in pistol blazing and the green one was busy lifting people in the air and slamming their poor dumb skulls through the walls. It was actually pretty entertaining.

I've been stuck on one level for ages ( I like to get all the bonuses and no deaths ), the one with the snowy hills where you have to blow up the objectives at the end of a long S-curve; nasty turret, enemy reinforcements and hard to get the items on the first hill if they blow that bridge. The next level is the one where all the enemies are medics, ouch; have you gotten that far?
But ain't the MP the most hilarious game ever? Sure glad I bought this.

e) can guarantee developers that every single user will have the exact same hardware, and
f) has a comparably small piracy problem to today's consoles...

Found Dawn of War and the first two addons for £10 at Zavvi so playing that at the mo. Really fun so far, but the 'zerg rush' close combat is a bit annoying to be honest.

Got a used copy of PS2 Half-life and playing the Decay co-op as SP. One character got stuck permanently under a corridor pipe and then a ramp came down in the shooter training room and she was stuck halfway through it- RELOAD.
It's fun doing the puzzles with 2 characters but the moving aiming cursor should be toggled off leaving the other one alone. And the lock-on aim function is like Tombraider; I don't use it.
