Not released in the UK until May (tho rumor has it the European release of the PS3 version won't be until September).

When a release date's finally announced, I'll be booking that day off from work...

Blasphemer!

I think even as just a guitar game it's great.

I really like their guitar a lot better. It took some getting used to but I do like it now. My first one broke and they sent me a free one.

i'm in love with this game. drummer++

figures that my XBL just expired and I don't have much intent on paying for another year. If any of you bastards play then i might rethink it and we can have an RN e-rock band

A bunch of people came over and played it tonight.

It was really fun. My arms hurt from drumming.

Having spent a small fortune on DLC, I'm now rockin' out.
Game arrived from http://www.game.co.uk about an hour ago, but the "Band in a box" (instrument pack - that's right, we Euro types don't get the option to buy the instruments and game together; thanks EA) which I preordered from http://www.play.com (in order to save £35/$70) still hasn't left their warehouse yet... >:(

Mad props for getting the masters for the Boston pack, though. Superb work - More Than A Feeling is officially the greatest thing evar.

After spending most of the last 3 days on RB, I'm still of the opinion that it's a fantastic game, but I'm not convinced about the peripherals.

The build quality of the instruments is a bit suspect IMHO; I think that a lot of the European market is being fobbed off with refurbished "faulty" instruments that the continental US market has RMA'd. When I opened up the drum kit I could see a few strike marks on the pad rims, as well as some tell-tale dents in the rubberised coating from drumstick hits.
Mine's one of the less-sensitive EL models, which again suggests that EA/MTV are minimising their losses by issuing European Band Boxes with the refurbs rather than ditching them. I know I've been missing hits that I'm absolutely certain I've made, and whilst I don't have the coordination to go above Easy just yet, I'm not sure how my current set will hold up against the faster rhythms demanded by the Hard and Expert modes if I ever get good enough to try them.

My guitar's not so bad - aside from a dodgy rattle emanating from just above the strum bar - and at least the strum bar seems to work without issue. (My brother wasn't so lucky - his Fender seems to be missing strums.)
I've got the self-activating Overdrive problem though, and I think it's either down to a faulty tilt switch, or one that's been mounted sideways - as a slight back-to-front swinging motion activates it more reliably than tilting the neck up.

Not really ideal considering the cost of the instument sets and the 6-month wait we've had for the European release...

when i bought my 350, i also bought rockband. i do like it a lot now.

also DP, my starpower (i will always call it that overdrive is beat) activiates randomly too its pretty annoying. for the most part it works well but still.

i hate how a lot of the things arent intercompatible. like the RB guitar with other guitar games. so annoying.

Jimmy Buffett. Epic win.

I'm angry about the next Guitar Hero (World Tour) - the RB drum kit won't be compatible, and there is absolutely no way I'm ever going to shell out on a second set of plastic drums just because they're "more realistic". Because, y'know, a game that simplifies a six-string, 25-fretted guitar down into 5 coloured buttons needs realism.

So the next GH will probably be mostly useless, especially considering how nasty GH3 is in comparison to Rock Band. However, the Rock Band brand name is so little-known in comparison to GH that people are more likely to spend out insane amounts of cash on virtual instruments for an established series than they are to take that level of financial risk on a completely new product. Despite RB being superior in every way, from mechanics to range of DLC to song selection. Bah.

Also, there are rumors of Rock Band 2 this winter. I hope they patch in online play for Band World Tour for the first game before then, but I'm suspicious that they'll save it for the sequel so that they can a) ream us all for another $50 / £50 and b) wait another 6 months to release it in Europe again. Double-bah.

Aaaaanywho, rant over. I'm nearly "there" on the Expert guitar career and I'm a week or two's practice away from the Hard drum career. Don't think I'll ever clock Expert on drums, but I used to think that about the guitar side of things too. Shame I can't sing to save my life... :D

Yep, pretty much. Despite the pound buying ~£1.75 - $2.00, we pay in GBP what most American consumers pay in dollars.

As an example, I was stateside last summer for work. I tried to pick up a second 360 guitar controller for some co-op goodness, but could only find it in a bundle pack with the game disc (which works fine on my UK 360; a good job too as my UK release is scratched to hell and back through over-use) - I paid about $70 for the bundle, and the same box set costs £70 in UK stores.

If you go by RRP, we pay £180 for Rock Band and the instrument set, which translates to $350+.

Might pick up GH4 for the Wii eventually as this time we apparantly get DLC. Or they could just lie to us again.

It will still probably be cheaper than buying a second GH3 guitar. £50 for the game & guitar, £60 for the guitar. GG common sense.

That song was so stupid.

It didn't warrant me trying it 6 times to finally beat it.

Word for the wise, if you have this game DO NOT BUY THE ROCK BAND 2 DRUM SET.

I made this mistake, it came out of box broken, and many others are being reported broken. I couldn't return it to the store as EA does not allow it either! So now I had to invoke my warranty within 5 hours of owning the damn peripheral and they're freezing 125 dollars on my debit card just because they don't trust me and their hardware fucking sucks.

fuck EA.
