No, a channel is created when you try to join one that doesn't exist and you are given op powers. You can register the channel and your nick if you want (it's recommended) but it's optional.

man this is great. i found 5 31b servers thru steam, pfoblem is i get a dll differs from server dll error. any ideas?

i did read a few and
valve got the game at 3.1b, remember wonid? then they retailed the game and called it dod retail. with this version you didnt need half life to run it.
anyway id appreciate any help on the dll thing.

We need a strategy how to start games on a server. Everytime I look at it it is empty. When I join the server for a while, nobody comes. Some weeks ago it took only some minutes and i wasn't alone. And it is shit that the steamgroup has no forum. There are many people but I don't know how I can bring them to play DoD 3.1.

There is also a server, which is not in the serverlist, don't ask why. To see where people playing you can look here (including the server which is not in the list):

you should ask wickit, i don't run a server. The way I did is to load the dedicated hl1 server with steam and put the dod_31 folder from the installer to the server.
The point is, it is not the real beta 3.1..
