Now that it's all said and done and over with. I think that world peace is finally at hand. It's been a long war but this is a good sign for the world. It says that we can actually end wars again. WARS CAN BE ENDED!

The defeat of HD-DVD is a lie! We have secured the continued cooperation of many, many corporations such as Microsoft and Wal-Mart. HD-DVD is coming stronger than ever! The Bluray players are commiting suicide in the shelves! Soon we will control the entire market!

I loved that crazy old fuck. It was so much fun to scream at him on TV...

"WTF are you talking about? I see your troops surrendering to American soldiers right behind you!"

I won't commit to HD until I see some solid price drops on the format(s). I'm not paying 400 dollars for a Blu Ray player and don't want a Playstation 3.

Not to mention Blu Ray's specs are updated all the fucking time.

And now that Blu-ray has no competition anymore, I don't imagine large price drops are forthcoming for a while yet.

I owned the 360 HDDVD player and I traded it in when I bought my PS3. They were pretty much the same. The only upside to HDDVD was that they had the cool picture and picture technology so that you could view the making of while watching the movie. So you could have on the set views behind the set views running along side the final product. The only problem with HDDVD was one marketing flaw... While it was cool to have combo DVD and HDDVD movies so that you could view them on a normal player it sucked because it made the price 5 to 10 dollars more on some discs.

Another bonus that people haven't really clung to yet for the HD market is the master track lossless audio. Which is great, only if you have a reciever that can output in lossless. As it is Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 are good enough for me, but I will eventually be making the upgrade.

The PS3 as a bluray player and game console is not a bad idea anymore. There are actually quite a few games comming out this year that make the system look worth while.

I concur. As I have a PS3 I'm not too concerned about the price of the player but the price of the movies themselves. I've wanted to purchase Kingdom of Heaven for the last few months but don't want it enough to spend 35 dollars for it.

Despite what the marketing drones like to say, I don't think saturation is very high for HDTV's yet, not until we start seeing 2 and 3 hundred dollar sets. I for one don't have an HDTV, I don't care enough to drop 500 bucks (even though HD gaming is fun and worth it).

Whatever you do, make sure you get the director's cut. The director's cut is awesome, but the theatrical version is absolute shit. Just to give a frame of reference, they cut about an hour out of the theatrical version. Imagine all of the plot points that are missing.

The internet isn't real. All you people are just sitting in front of the mirror masturbating. Little does anyone realize the government has produced mind altering drugs found in fast foods, candy, edible underwear, apples, and that one kind of ice cream that is made up of a bunch of colors, and all taste like weird stuff. Except the chocolate, that taste pretty good. EVEN THOUGH THATS WHERE THEY HIDE THE DRUG ! IN THE CHOCOLATE !

this drug makes the brain think that computers, and the internet exist. Really they don't, they actually put people in a state of sleep, which has them uncontrollably touching them selfs.

I know this. Because Manji knows this :manji:

Did you plop down big dollars for a high-definition DVD player using Toshiba's HD DVD format -- which recently lost the battle with Sony's Blu-ray format?

Well, depending where you bought it, you may be eligible for a refund or a gift card to ease the disappointment.

Wal-Mart Stores is offering refunds for HD DVD players purchased on or after Nov. 1. To qualify, customers must return the players by April 30 and have a receipt in hand. Original packaging isn't required.

Meanwhile, Best Buy is giving $50 gift cards to customers who bought an HD DVD player or an HD DVD unit for a Microsoft Xbox 360 videogame system anytime before Feb. 23. Gift-card recipients can keep their HD DVD units.

Best Buy says it will mail the gift cards, which don't expire, by May 1 to customers who bought warranties or who are part of its "Reward Zone" program. Other Best Buy customers can call 1-888-BestBuy to participate. Be sure to have your receipt or credit-card information as proof of purchase.

People looking to get rid of a player altogether -- regardless of where it was purchased -- can check out Best Buy's online trade-in center.

You're not looking at great prices when trading in, but it's something. For instance, you'd get $148.50 for a Toshiba HD XA2 unit originally priced at $1,000, and $2.70 apiece for HD DVDs.
