Ok Like I snaged a Nintendo 64 eh. I like got it fer like 4 player Deathmatch, since my buds like to play the ps2 and 3 stuff. So like I get a 64 with 4 great controlers and rumble packs. And like these games eh:
Turok 1 2 3
Golden Eye
Duke Nukem 64
Mario Kart
Perfect Dark
Rampage world and universal tour.

Ok like so we started with Golden Eye and it was all aboot the inverted settins. Like you can't chang em eh. "I keep lookin up" "I can't get used to this eh."
So then like I switched to Turok 2 and set up the sticks the same way we use the PS2 n 3. "The controls are too big" "My hand hurts." "I can't aim." "How did you find that bore thing?"
Ok So I put in Mario Kart. "I can't turn" "The screen is too small" ({It's the same size as all the other PS2 n3 games, Fuckin moron} My thoughts). "My hand hurts." "The contrlol is too heavy."

"This isn't compatable with my LCD." :orly: ({Fuckin Moron} my thoughts)

So I put in forsaken. "I can't fly this thing." "The screen is too small." >:( "The control is too heavy" TAKE THE RUMBLE PACK OUT "The control is too big" "My thumb hurts." ({FUCK I'M GONNA KILL EM!})

"Let's play tiger woods." "Is there a golf for this."

FUCK YOU! I'm leaving!

I understood. Your mates need a bitch slap - big time. And thats not even true retro gaming. Its only last gen console stuff.

I still play on my old SNES and would killl for a Megadive.

Similary, I got retail Dod cos I had a PCI FX5200 and my mate got Cod 1 for his (at the time uber card). Kept telling me that he could not 'get' with Dod cos he liked all the advanced graphics and stuff. He missed out on a treat.

Now he's playing WoW. Hardly uber-graphics. And shows he's got no idea what a good game is. WoW? - Ugh. No way.+

And while I remember - try this web site for all your Nintendo needs: http://www.virtualnes.com/

Ya thanks for the link.
I've got a nintendo 8 bit collection. tis sweet.
I'm a retro nut I love the old gamin systems.
Atari 2600 (2)
Intellivision
Odyssey 2
Coco 3
3 3do's
Mame and xarcade stick n trackball.
Gebnesis

What realy pissed me off and frustrated me was the fact that those games are great 4player deathmatches. The grafix are great. But all I got was grief for my effort. Me and a different group of buds used to play the 64 all the time. I've got every fps deathmatch game for the ps2. We usually end up on MOH European assault.

But they seem to want to play tiger woods 08 and quite frankly I get bored with it.
I just figered I'd get the 64 and taught they would be ok but...

My bro and a couple of our mates wasted pretty much all of our college years on GoldenEye. Maybe that's how I stumbled into the random degree course/career track I'm on...?

I like the nostalgia value of old games, but in general I find that the majority just don't stand up to the stuff I play now. There are a few glorious exceptions - whenever I fire up Covert Action on WinUAE I'm lost for hours - but in most cases I think the rose-tinted glasses distort things a little too much.

Well since my bud got a ps3 he even frowns on tger woods 07. He was at my place and I was playin golden tee 2000 on mame with the trackball. I said I'd bring my pc over.
Then he said "The grafix suck."
I said "It's golden tee man. Just like in the bar. This game kiks ass."
"Still not as good as Tiger woods."
"I got the fuckin trackball dumbass. Look at this shot."

The funny thing about retro gaming is that the only reason why it has a following is nostalgia. If you try to get someone into an SNES game when they got into gaming circa PSX or were raised on a Sega Genesis, they're probably not going to get into it.

I'm one of the few who didn't think Goldeneye was good.

I hated it cos I was crap at it. Could never grasp FPS on a pad. And my mates knew where to find the golden guns and other good shit to mate the game even more one sided in their favours. Sapped all the fun out for the game. Still, I'd love to have DK64, Quake64 & Doom64 to play.

I'm keeping all my SNES stuff to that I've got a easy-to-begin-with system for when I finaly give in to the missus and have kids.

I sold all my StarWars toys (and I had more than was necessary) to buy my SNES. I was young at the time, had outgrown the stuff and they wherent the collectors stuff they can be now. I try not to think about that much as it feels wrong to have done that. Having Super Mario Kart a week before it was released more than made up for it.

I'd probably agree about the SNES, but I don't think it applies to computer gaming. I've introduced my friends to games that are 10 to 15 years old and most of them are hooked -- it's all we play when we get together.

Yep. By bud got MOH airborn for his ps3. That was the same night I brought the 64 over. It was on the couch to say "Let's Play this" Se my bud is extreemly game and computer iliterate. I'm the one who sets up the deathmatches and controls so they can play. Took a look at the back of the game case. Tossed it back at him and said "Ethernet only." He was a bit dissapointed. The old days of people on consols not having internet is gone. My bud does not even have the internet. As a matter of fact out of us 4 regular players. I'm the only one.

I still play my N64 every once in awhile, but more and more I skip it because I don't have time to play all my games and I've already got new games I haven't played, or because I have them on computer emulators, or because the games just don't feel as good. After all, the Model T was an amazingly powerful and fast machine oh so many years ago, but now the designs have advanced. AI on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark is pretty fucking stupid. Multiplayer was fun but simple. Mechanics overall were pretty limited by the machinery and lines of thought at the time. Plus it's really hard to get together 4 people who know how to play Goldeneye. I was really excited when I heard they were making a 'net play enabled Goldeneye for the DS. But totally dissapointed when they meant "that ripoff Bond game where you play a villain named Goldeneye but it really sucked and we picked the name to trick you fuckers into buying it."

There are a few old games that stand up well. Super Mario Brothers is eternal, as is Tetris. Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. Deus Ex is always a thrill for me, and I'd love to see a modern graphics engine remake of it.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that the game dynamics of Goldeneye are so similar to the other fps shooters we play. Get the gun find the health kill the others. We play agent under fire and it's hardly any different except the aim mode. The only diference realy is the grafix and the fucking control stick.

If you like playing 4 player dm than you should still enjoy going back to golden eye or any of them for that matter.

Not to mention mario kart is a blast. It's fun for all ages!

I could understand them not wanting to play PGA tour 2 on my genesis. Ok I get that.

But to constantly bitch about grafix aone. Gimme a break! I'm gona bring my 2600 over and hook up compbat next!

Suffering that on the 65th level of Gauntlet is retro

Talking of Golden Eye, WTF happened to the Source version? Did it ever see the light of day past a sketchy pre-release beta? Surely the best way to re-live some of the oldies is through remakes like Goldeneye Source or Black Mesa with online matchmaking etc ? The DOOM pack(Not Doom 3), which changed the models to full 3d and highdef was a good thing to do.

Deus Ex is always a thrill for me, and I'd love to see a modern graphics engine remake of it.

I'm sure I saw a high-def pack released (or in production) for Deus Ex. A fan made mod though. Was mentioned in a UK PC Games mag a couple of years ago.

As for a remake of Goldeneye: yeah, remake it, maintain the graphics (mostly), make it online playable. I think it was the sheer silly speed of the game that made it fun.

Can't seem to trigger the sneak missions in the small maps outside the SP game anymore-aanyone remember how?
Old RPGs like Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics
rock too.
Best Intellivision game was always Treasure of Tarmin- have a look for it.
Deus Ex only needs a fix to make the AI work properly, i.e. not every single enemy on the level should know exactly where you are when one spots you, even a turret, bleah. If you want it to look great, get a Voodoo 3 or better vidcard in an old comp. with legacy drivers and it looks way better than D3D and a new vidcard.

Which games/consoles are really good on two TVs with link cables so you each have a full screen? Never liked the Turok splitscreen version.

Yep but that took over two hours us I realy like to search a level well before descending. Also don't like to leave the intellivision on for days. It's hard on the power supply. You also can sorta keep track of the map by (See below).

And it's always smart to drop valuables in the hall so you don't lose them.

Especially the more powerfull wepons. Remember some creatures can only be killed by magic! FUCKERS!
And droping certain weapos or used armor infront of an outer hall entrance can tell you you have been there.

When you move from a war area to a magic area your stats can switch! If you have real high HP a good walk through can up your magic. Carefull tho! doing that I switched my HP down to 10 fro 60! :shifty:

Also there's a glitch my nephew discovered: firing the bow with no arrows repeatedly cranks a certain stat. Don't remember the details well - I don't like to use this kind of thing to level up.

Quick increase in War HP trick
When playing the game, and you have built up a good amount of armor against War weapons (this is your left hand stat on the 2nd row down in the lower right hand corner, if you are not sure which I'm talking about), there is a little trick you can do to get lots of HP for War. Along your way through the dungeon, you'll likely find a book that turns your War HP score blue, beige, or white. These books make it easier for you to gain points by resting after a battle. If you have one of these activated, it makes the trick a lot more effective. After you have found one, and you've used it, you need to purposely run out of arrows for your bow. It might take a while, if you've picked up a lot. When you are out of arrows, go up to a weak enemy and attack it using the bow. Obviously, you'll get a loud buzzing tune, saying you don't have arrows. The monster will retaliate. Press the attack button again. Again, you'll not have anything to shoot, and the monster will again retaliate. Each time you do this, you have potential to gain 1 HP in war after the battle is over. If you have used an enhancement book like I mentioned above, it's almost a certain point. Repeat the process until you are satisfied. Then switch to another weapon and slay the monster. When the monster perishes, hit ''rest''. However many points you earned will be added to your HP score, provided you have enough food to cover the increase (1 unit of food per point gained, and there are 6 food units in each sack of flour you find in the maze).

Ya I remmber that. However you can get your ass killed trying it! I don't like to use cheats like that. Ruins a good game.

Bushido Blade from SquareSoft had a link-up feature; the single-player game was a free-roaming 3D hack-em-up with no life bars, where victory came with the decisive sword stroke that killed your opponent. You could disable their legs to they could only crouch-walk, or take out their arms so they needed to get really lucky with a weak attack to turn the tables.
When you went into link-up mode, though, the game changed into a first-person view and was awesome fun :D

The Command & Conquer games also has system link, and I think Ridge Racer Revolution did as well. Other than that, I'm drawing a blank...

Once you your opponent got towards big armies, the game slowed down so much you could do nothing but both select all your troops, direct them to the middle of the map and go have dinner while the game resolved itself.

Finally today I found Blasto for PSX- Phil Hartman's last voiceover before he was killed. $2.99 in a generic case but I have the real one and manual at home. Yay me.

I own this. Beat it a long time ago and found pretty much everything. Its a hard game though where I died a shitload of times which I think is how its designed since they give you an assload of lives.

Dreamcast's are easy to find. Also the games too.
I had my 3do when dreamcast was out. The 3do was in it's death throws and the games were available. I was looking at a dreamcast. But I got my first PC and that killed my consol gaming. I sold off all of em. Stupid of me. Wasn't untill PS2 slim I got back into it.

Did you have Space Hulk on that 3DO Puddle? I wish I'd played it back in the day, it's too late now. Can't get into it.

Yep I've rekindled my 3do collection. I have 1 fz-1 (DEAD NOW need to change the drive or battery.) and 2 FZ-10,s. Collected all the old games I loved and I HAD TO HAVE SPACE HULK!. The game is rediculously hard man! Specially in the later levels. But just a total awesome strategy game. You gatta cheet and give your self unlimited map time to set your guys up. A B A R A C A D A B R A. d and r are the direction pad.
With all the fps's out there now I can see why you couldn't get into it. Me I still love it but it pisses me off!
I have the PC Version but the guys don't overwatch some times.
It works tho.

I've played through about 10 levels of the PC version and I noticed the overwatch problem. Yes, the game does feel ridiculously hard but it's so great when it all comes together, slowly advancing through corridors and intersections having guys cover one anothers backs, it's great because the amount of randomness to it is rather low. It's really all about pure strategy.
