If it's a generic shooter, what the hell, it's only $5.

a generic shooter.
Where you can walk on the ceiling. Its an ok game, good at times, average during most, bad and frustrating at times.

For $5 I'd recommend it. I wasn't too terribly impressed with it (and I got it brand new, collector's edition because it was the only kind they had in stock). For a $5 game I think it should impress.

Lol prey, I remember when that game was a huge hit, only to become a $5 bargain binner.
It's a game to play only once. It was ok, but i'd never want to re-play it. It had some cool stuff in it, i'll give it that. But the whole story I just wanted to get to the end asap.

I remember enjoying the demo up to a point, and then I stoped playing it for some reason. I'll probably buy it anyway, because what the hell, 5 bucks is 5 bucks.

Correction: generic, white stereotype red-indian magical shaman powers.
Also, goatse figures into the game...a lot. I can't count the number of scphincters I shot at or got shot by.

I didnt finish it. Not to say its bad or anything.
It just follows the typical doom 3, quake 4 story line.
Man, i knew you would end up having to kill your girlfriend in prey because she gets turned into a baddy. Same way in doom and quake. A none bad individual who you have some form of contact with gets changed, thus you must kill them.

Yeah, I think that's part of the terms of use for the Doom 3 engine.

Yeah, that and "make your game as interminable and backward-looking as possible".
I was appaled that Quake IV contained an on-rails section.

Maybe it's iD's fall from grace (Quake 4 and Doom 3, I mean, not Prey). Really, looking back on them, none of their games were ever really 'OMG revolutionary!' except from technical points of view. Now our tastes have matured (mostly) so we now see their games as what they are: a tech demo to sell their engines. Kinda like Crysis. :-D

I don't like the look of the D3 engine, everything looks like plastic or clay, especially the characters. It seems that hasn't changed with their new next-gen engine either.

To quote Master Chief from "Arby n the Chief" "... I wipe my ass with 10 dollars."
A very forgetable game. A game with the technology shown off in Portal only it sucked in everyway shape and form.

Not to mention dark. Jesus christ, the character being unable to hold both the pistol and flashlight at the same time...

And the hard edged stencil shadowing and the low res textures and shaders which make it look like a preview for a DX8 game.
