View Full Version : The Vice Guide to North Korea (must see!)

This documentary is so weird!

Its basically an independent journalist "touring" North Korea. The whole experience is so friggin bizzare. What makes it even more strange is that the guy is just like an average American that you would sit next to in a bar and have a beer with. I dont know how they managed to pull this off but its worth watching.

I'm personally really digging this because I myself am South Korean and I love to see this kind of stuff. It's actually really entertaining for me to see what it's like on the other side.

Their accents are actually quite fun to listen to.

Yea their accents are a bit comical. I felt bad for the tea girl. I hope they bought something from her.

Its crazy how the government makes sure that they only let them see what they want them to see and nothing else.

The main guy doing the documentary is pretty funny too. I hope he does more like this. I almost shit myself laughing when he got on the karaoke machine and started singing "I AM THE ANTI-CHRIST!"

hahah!

I laughed when they purposely mocked the guy telling him to not obstruct the view of the "great leader" on the painting.

Thats the kind of shit that the main stream media can never cover. I genuinely felt sad for the girl.

Does anyone know of any other online documentaries similar to this?

Vice does some good stuff.

Also I would have tried to bang that tea girl. Seems like she needed it. Then we'd both be publicly executed, but oh so worth it. Forbidden communist sex.

Every time I see stuff from North Korea I get overwhelmed by the surreal way those people live. I can't really imagine what it must be like to be there.

Holy crap @ episode 13!

It's like the N Koreans just spend their lives putting on a show for the foreigners. It left me wondering where everyone was going on the tube line.. since nobody ever moved anywhere outside and on the roads.

Bizarre.

Since it was Pyongyang, I'm assuming they were almost exclusively civil servants and the well-to-do. Its just so surreal, the footage of those kids jumping up and down holding their 'presents' was just so depressing, almost all of them looked sad or angry and were just doing it for the camera and to make the leader proud. And the Barrage is just fucking appaling. Its just so sad that these people arn't even given a chance, it almost me want to sneak some Immanuel Kant in there. Or better yet, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress. But still, introducing just one Western element into a society as alien as NK's would create some sort of crazy Canticle for Leibowitz situation where they move from one blind adolation to another.

And also, Kim Jong Il is starting to remind me more and more of Benjamin Linus.

*edit*
Vice Guide has some awesome stuff in the places generally considered third world shitholes.

I always wonder why some one, say a soldier who'd got close enough, just pull out a gun and shoot the fucker.
I know that the people are either too mind-fucked, or too scared, but history is full of people who made that one stand. Guess we'll just have to wait for him to die, for their to be a power struggle at the top and for it to crumble natrually.
Those people are in for one hell of a fucking shock when the boarder is one day removed and they see the south.
People cant be physicaly or mentaly caged up like that forever. History proves this with so many examples.

edit: damn my spelling seems to regress alot when I post on this porum. >:(

The same guy who did this went to Bulgaria and tracked down the guy who sold a French journalist a plutonium detonator on the black market. Tracked down as in paid the guy some cash, drove him to their hotel room, and interviewed him about the entire process. He even talked about meeting bin Laden and negotiations with his people to supply nuclear waste for a dirty bomb. The only thing he refused to do was to drive the interviewers was to drive to his mother's house and dig up the detonator, which he had buried in the vegetable garden there.

Holy shit.

And Shane's also the guy who fucked a doll in a Japanese brothel and accidentally broke its head off.

This is because, save for the most senior members of the military (who have a good thing going and no reason to change the status quo), that would be the same as trying to kill God, or God's chosen one, anyway.

Depends on from which part of canada really.
French canadians and newfies have accents typically.

Newfies have sort of an irish like accent.. though its rather unique.

3m-y-qAbpL0

French canadians usually sound like a stero-typical fargo/french mix to me when they speak english.

Anything west of quebec and you would have a difficult time telling the difference between a 'canadian' and 'american' accent.
