Rodovan Karadzic (serb leader in bosnia) trial for war crime

I just saw the movie hunting party -- what interesting timing.

This guy got picked up, about a week ago (?), and is charged with genocide and crimes against humanity for what he did during the conflict bosnia. Apparently serbia is making a bid to join the EU now, so they finally decided that 10 years or so was enough time for a war criminal to be let alone and they figured they should go pick him up.

The end of that movie hunting party says that he is still free, but that was released a few weeks before he was captured :orly:

to play devils advocate:

shitty things happened to BOTH sides on that conflict. couple that with a relative lack of the kind of access to information that we have in the west and you have a population that it would be easy to tell half the story to.

but, yeah, that's pretty fucked up.

Yeah, you occasionaly have to read a paper, or turn off Nickelodeon and put on the news to find out these things.
