WASHINGTON - Federal agents may take a traveler's laptop or other electronic device to an off-site location for an unspecified period of time without any suspicion of wrongdoing, as part of border search policies the Department of Homeland Security recently disclosed.

Sooner or later the courts are going to HAVE to stand up to the FBI/TSA/Homeland Security and establish that the border is indeed NOT a Constitution free zone and establish just who is in charge and who oversees them so that complaints and grievances will have a clear place to go.

The thing that bums me out is that this, and the whole patriot act, is wholly unconstitutional, yet no one does or even loudly says anything about it. srsly, wtf?

Everyone.
The best way I've heard of getting around this is to ship your machine to your destination. Or to wipe it clean, then store your data online and download it after you arrive.
