Is it possible to use a Satellite internet connection and a LAN internet connection at the same time? My brother is using a computer in his office, and he needs the satellite internet to use certain company programs. On the other hand, the satellite internet is piss slow and he also needs a faster internet connection to use the internet.

Should be able to do that sweed by making another pc a dedicated server.

I don't know why programs would have to be over satellite, sounds like laziness on the part of whoever set it up for him. But sure, he wouldn't even need another PC, just throw another NIC in the PC, satellite in one, DSL/Cable/whatever in the other.

He'd still need to set up the network settings tho wouldn't he bowman?

Well, most providers just do DHCP, so probably not. Nobody I'm aware of around here even screws with PPPoE, or if they do the PPPoE is on the modem. Without knowing why he has to use the other connection specifically, its hard to say if any other changes would have to be made. But I doubt he'd be restricted to using satellite if the admin on the other side wasn't lazy and/or knew what he was doing.

edit: might have to set up routing tables to tell it to prefer one NIC when talking to certain IPs, I.E. the IP's of whatever devices those programs are connecting to. Kinda complicated, but not really dangerous since you can add routes that aren't saved between boots until you get it right.

Combining 2 connections is quite tricky from what I am aware. I know some of the ZyXel routers have dual WAN inputs and there are all sorts of fancy settings with them...using certain connections for certain ports, etc.

Maybe there is some software that will do this with a couple of NIC's - I am not too sure. Sorry, I can't really help that much but tried my best!
