i'm just trying to figure out which xbox drives are used when in the manufacturing process (if you already know this, go ahead an school me)

i'm pretty sure the BenQ drives are for the new 360s and the others are for older 360s, but i'm not really sure

anyway, if you own a 360 could you tell me a) when you bought it and b) which of these drives it has?

I have the BenQ drive, bought it a couple months ago. It's definitely one of the newer models, came with
the new style headset.

The day SoG explains shit right on his first post, is the day I will genuinely laugh at a Steph's joke.

Probably never going to happen.

i'm considering buying an xbox 360 and modding it. i was wondering what the current model of drive was that was being sold.

Yea, most of the newer systems (starting about mid-summer) are Lite-On drives, which, at the moment, are un-moddable unless you spoof your drive. All the other ones are possible, and fairly simple if you have the proper hardware.

If you get a system and are having trouble modding it, toss me a PM. I've done at least 20 of each of em.

Also, you can get past the warranty sticker without breaking it rather easily. Once you get to the step where you need to open the 4 tabs in the front of the system, use a heat gun (or a hair dryer), to heat up the sticker, pop open the 4 tabs JUST enough to open it, then simply slide the 2 halves apart, and the sticker should be fully intact. Just don't fuck it up when you put it back together :-P

yeah i recently heard about this...but in the tutorials i watched people just took the sticker off. you cant do that anymore right? is that what you're talking about opening it just enough?

i dont like how he does any of that, he is WAY too rough with it, and can very easily muck up your system by doing it the way he does (use the same steps, but be more gentle with your system)

anyway, at around 4:20 (lol @ time), once you have all 4 of those tabs to the point where you can open it (i usually use 2 or 3 small, flathead screwdrivers and leave them under the tabs, so they don't close again), just slide the 2 halves apart, and the sticker should come right off without a problem. I've done this with a few systems and actually had to send them back to ScumSoft and got a new system back.

If you need me to I may be able to make a video of how to do it for you.
