Having problems with what seems to be my graphics card. It usually starts with random triangles appearing in-game and ends up crashing giving me the message "nvlddmkm stopped responding but has been repaired." I have reinstalled my video driver several times and it still happens. Is it fair to say that my video card is dying or is it repairable?
Nvidia 8600M GS laptop card.

I used to get that message in vista with my nvidia card too. Your video card is most likely quite fine.
dont ask me how i fixed it. Other than updating vista and my gfx drivers i havent done anything special.

Does that thing come from the Steam directory? Because when I booted my PC up this morning, I got the loading failed error message. I haven't changed anything, Steam doesn't auto-run, and there haven't been any issues with anything since my last reformat.

Nope, it's a Nvidia driver that can be found in the System32 folder.
It's still giving me problems so I'm going to give HP a call.
