Default Will Obama get a second term?

Barring something short of a miracle, the perceived inaction and focus on issues that don't matter to most Americans (Health Care, don't ask don't tell, gay marriage) is going to cause a major shift in the congress come this mid term. A good deal of people seem pissed off.

That said, all opinions aside what do you guys feel are Obama's chances at a second term? This is not what you WANT to happen.

Unless the GOP can field a good, appealing candidate, I think it likely Obama will get a second term regardless of how his first goes.

And there certainly aren't many at the moment.

No chance in hell. The biggest factor in this is the simple belief that the vast majority of people that voted for him thought he was going to fix everything and they would never have to pay another dime for anything. Consequently, those are the people who are extremely pissed off about it. He won't be getting the "look, we're both black!" vote this time around. He's going to have to campaign a lot harder than a normal sitting President would have to do as well, because of that fact. The only thing that is going to give us 4 more years of "change" are his speeches. That boy can read a damn good speech, regardless of what you believe.

GOP just needs to keep Palin as far away as possible this time, but I would bet that they are going to try the same thing Obama pulled. As in, "First black", now we can win with "First Woman". And if it came down to the wire, I'd much rather have Palin than Hillary any day of the week.

It astonishes me that anyone could say that. Hillary may well be Thunderdyke and incredibly unlikeable, but at least she's not overlord of the retards like Palin.

First of all, unless the Republicans bring up a moderate candidate (which these days they are definitely not leaning toward), the people who voted for Obama, however disappointed that he did not solve their problems, will vote for him again. He has already fulfilled, or is working toward fulfilling, a lot of his promises (http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/).

And Hillary Clinton has proven herself a pretty capable Secretary of State from what I've seen, though to be fair I'm not familiar with her term as New York Senator. What exactly do you not like about her?

That's the great thing about Palin, every time she opens her mouth she gives more ammo to the opposing side. She's a swirling vortex of derp.

I would probably take Hillary Clinton over Palin.

I'm guessing Obama won't have a problem hanging on to the black vote actually.

It's going to be interesting, for sure. Seconding the opinion that it greatly depends on which candidate the GOP comes up with. My concern would be that they come up with a demagogue that feeds on people's anger (George Wallace in '68 comes to mind)...and that said demagogue actually wins them more votes.
I voted for Obama, fully prepared to be underwhelmed...but I did so because I didn't like the hints of demagoguery coming from lady S.P. And she's just gone and proven my discomfort more in the years since. A decent, pragmatic Republican would get my vote the next go 'round...but only time will tell if that will happen.

    I'm all about balance.
