Re: How many bands do vinyl these days?
In regards to just responding to the thread title, a lot of punk bands still do these days. It's kinda the hip thing to do if you are a "real" punk rock band. You'd be surprised at how many metal bands in all the different sub genres still do. It's usually one of the first things a band of punk or metal nature wants to do when coming out with an album. The only problem is that it's sorta an "underground" kinda thing, so it's only for the most hardcore fans. Usually.
There is a record store in Seattle, WA that is across the street from that coney island bar with all the pinball machines. They deal in vinyl. There's also a huge record store in portland oregon by powell books that has one of the biggest selections of new and old vinyl i've ever seen. It's actually really amazing to see.
