When I looked at the PSA website, I didn't see any prices as they were all out of stock. M1S was one of the cheapest ones around when I built mine, and pretty much haven't looked since, but they were also one of the only ones building dissipators as well.

Right on. Yeah, they started updating their site last weekend and it's a fucking mess. Options coming and going during constant updates, prices not listed if out of stock, etc. If PSA doesn't have their dissipators in stock next weekend, I'll either be buying a dissy from Model 1, or a middy from PSA. We shall see.

Wow. Just last night, I had resigned myself to ordering a middy. So, today, I check PSA's site and they had my dissipator upper back in stock. Great, still halfway short on the money. Checked a locally based gun forum I had posted a classified on, and I had a buyer. Just got back from the sale, had all the rest covered except the $20 for shipping. Fucking ordered.

Oh, and I should have my P229 back this week. Good things come in threes, truly.

Oh, and AFG, just thought you should know that last night, I was about 90% decided on ordering this exact upper you linked me because I was starting to get pissed at PSA for responding to my emails three to five business days after I sent them. So don't feel like I was blowing off your advice, you linked me to a great deal I very nearly went with, even at the very last minute.

    Nice.

Lemme know what you think of the Battlecomp (oh, and which version is that?). I'm toying with the idea of eventually adding one along with a Spike's ST-T2 buffer in a UBR. That, combined with the mid-length gas and the weight should make it recoil about like a .22. If I can have next to zero recoil in an AR, then why the fuck not? lol

Not mine, but essentially what I'm looking to wind up with:

    Alright, question time again:

After doing some more shopping around and a little more research, I've narrowed it down to two:

    http://www.riflegear.com/p-874-danie...gth-rifle.aspx
    http://grabagun.com/bcm-recce-16-mod...rail-30rd.html

Ultimately, for a little extra change more than the Colt 6920, I could snag a mid-length with a rail system and LPGB from two very good companies. The problem is, now I can't decide between the two. Are there any differences I should be aware of, or should I just save a little extra and go with the BCM? Also, I'd really like to be able to shoot steel out of this, so something correctly gassed and timed that won't prematurely attempt extraction would be nice, which is another reason I wanted to go mid-length. I haven't been able to find anything online speaking to any timing issues from either DD or BCM, so any of your opinions or insights are welcome.

Nice. I got the battlecomp 1.5. I have a T2 on one of my carbines right now, but I might switch it out. I'll let you know.

Both are very reputable companies and you will not go wrong with either. The two products listed are comparable and are only $100 apart from each other.

Both have 16" barrels of similar contour and utilize the midlength gas system. However, BCM has a standard barrel, whereas the DD is advertised as having a cold hammer forged barrel.
BCM has a Troy 11" rail. DD has a DD Omega 12" rail.
Both utilize a low profile gas block.
DD rifle has a rear QD sling swivel attachment to the rear. The BCM does not.
DD rifle has a vertical foregrip. The BCM does not.
DD rifle has a magpul MOE stock. The BCM has a standard M4 stock.
BCM has a MOD 4 charging handle. DD has a standard charging handle.

You cannot go wrong with either. The accessories that come with the DD more than make up for the $100 difference. However, it is up to you to decide whether or not they are worth it.

Midlengths operate on the lower end of the spectrum, but you should be able to shoot steel cased ammo just fine using a standard buffer, maybe/most likely up to an H1.

Right on. What are your thoughts on Spike's Dynacomp? I mentioned my interest in the Battlecomp to my buddy who gave me the lower and he told me that if I was hell-bent on adding a muzzle comp, to at least give the Dynacomp a look. Supposedly, very similar performance for half the price.

Sweet. If you decide to part with it, I'm definitely interested. What's your impression on how it dampens buffer spring noise, and recoil? I've heard good things and bad things, but I decided the physics of it made sense to me, having worked with a variety of hammers, a dead-blow mallet works off the same principle as the T2 and I can definitely feel the difference there, so it made sense being applied to a buffer.

*Edit - My P229 shipped today. Should have it Friday. Can't. Fucking. Wait.
