Steam might recognize v1.3 more easily then 1.3b. If you actually want to play some pre-Source DoD.

This isn't about pre-source DoD, this is about pre-retail nostalgia DoD. When it was WW2 the arcade version.

Well what if we use Hamachi with HL1 installed on our machines? Then we could run a LAN over the internet and not worry about Steam at all. I remember 3.1 working over Steam too but I forget how we did it.

I use Hamachi all the time to play games that I honestly and legally own with my dirty hippie cheapass pirate friends who steal every goddamnthing.
Works like a charm.

Face you talking bout old school Half life in the SIERRA folder directory. Hell I guess you are. You sure hamachi would work with it? Would we update non-half life to whatever the latest patch is. 1.1.1.0 wasn't it?

Hamachi will work with that, yes. It will work with anything, really. You just need to be sure everyone has the same EXACT configuration as far as patches go. I mean, Hamachi will allow you to just connect via "LAN" with everyone. It won't be an established server that outside peers can connect to. Only people with the same patch and version with Hamachi who know our network name/pw will be able to connect.
