    Default I FOUND EARLY DOD'S !

I was going through a box of old stuff today, and i came across my collection of PC gamer Demo disks ! I don't know whats up with PC gamer these days, but when i had a subscription from 1999-2003 PC gamer gave you a demo disk. Well i was looking at these disks (a lot) and found a bunch that has some OLD SCHOOL SHIT on em`.

This one disk, from 2001 has DoD on it, and its before DoD 1.3 !

I was sitting and thinking real hard, and i remember dod was on PC gamer earlier then that even. I'm gonna go through em` all, and i have a feeling i'll find one of the first dod betas.

I bring this up because i remember reading something about how someone was looking for early dod betas and couldn't find any. Well if thats true, then i guess i found the jack pot.

What beta was dod at in 2000 ? When did dod come out ? I CAN'T REMEMBER ! I remember the dod team changed up in 99 right ? Then started to the mod again, and came out with the first beta in 2000 yeah ?

    its been so long !

and the point you might ask ....

    ahem ..

    um.

having possibly one of the earliest betas of DoD on disk ? i dunno i dunno

What is your disc number? PC Gamer disc 7.14 has DoD beta 2.0 on it.

The best thing about all those beta's is that they are still playble today with Sturmbot Alpha 0.8 - Beta 1.7 covers them all,my self and Jowo and the other beta testers allways made shure dod never went with out.Shure you can never replace real player's but then again it's better then fuck all.

so i found beta 1.2 on disk 7.4.

i think 1.2 might have been the first time DoD was on PCgamer, but i'll keep looking. Only one beta away from the first one ! Although, i would love to play the "pre-beta" the one that got leaked, yall know what i mean ? EH ? EH ???

I kept this secrete for many many years, and not until now i say that yes i in fact did get the leaked beta and played the shit out of it.

I remember beta 1.2 was in PC Gamer but didn't know it was on a disc.

Alpha 6.5? Did they ever find out who leaked it? I got a copy of it late into the game.

To be honest, i don't even remember who gave it to me ! and thats the truth ! I kinda remember asking someone for it, and promising to keep a secrete, next thing i remember i had a link and i downloaded it off a ftp site. After that...My social life officially came to a close for years to come...

I didn't feel bad one bit, i remember waiting a year or more to play DoD ! Everyday of checking the dod site inside and out for any new information. I remember putting every new screen shot as my desktop lol ! Funny to think about, how into dod i use to be. Still am i guess, iam here am i not ?

I may go through my discs... A couple years back I hosted all of the releases on my gameserver website (Alpha 6.8 -> DoD betas -> DoD v1.x). Maybe I still have em. If I do, i'll host em on my server.
