Well, hopefully Putin's receptive to conciliation. I've no doubt he'll continue to pull the strings long after he steps down as President, and if he isn't willing to play ball it's hard to imagine any American overtures will make progress.
Still can't wrap my head around this missile defense shield project though. Strikes me as a colossal money sinkhole with no tangible military benefits in an age when global 'police' action seems to be what's necessary.
Why do we even need a missle base? There's no fighting sovereign nations anymore. Shit, when you look at Palestine, Kosovo, Chechnya, et al, sovereignty itself is called into question.
