how big of a tool bag do you have to be to think that as a celebrity, your "endorsement" counts for jack shit. just because oprah likes barack obama, i'm supposed to run to his camp? or just because....someone...somewhere...likes Hillary Clinton am I supposed to go rush to her side? Furthermore, how big of a douche do you have to be to be someone who cheers when they hear this news (like half the people on reddit apparently)

If celebs speak up on social issues they're smacked down for thinking anyone gives a shit what they think. If they remain quiet, they're reviled for not using their position as a figure people listen to in order to spread the word about an important issue.

Sucks being a celeb. Except when you get to fuck hot celebs. Or own expensive and nice things. And travel. And live in luxury wherever you go and have people fawn over you.

What makes the contributor even less important is that there are limits to how much a celebrity can directly endorse a candidate. It doesn't how matter how rich and famous you are, ever since campaign conventions (i think mcgovern) in the 1970's-1980's they put a cap on donations. There are ways around this block (527 committees i believe). SoG is right though. Who really gives a shit what celebrity likes you. They still only get one freaking vote. If you're the kind of voter that makes your decision based the opinions of your favorite musician, you're a fucking idiot and have no business casting a vote.
