Default Steam on Linux might be coming

    http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?si ... 7&from=rss

The left 4 dead demo includes a few linux based libraries and a mention of 'steam linux client' which, when you remember Valve was hiring a programmer who's job would partly be to port Windows games to Linux, implies a lot...

What'd be cool is if they put their own custom build of Wine in there to run non converted games.

L4D and all recent valve games are DirectX only.

    Linux can't do DirectX.

Or they could just get them ported to OpenGL. Or run a DirectX emulator.

Or they can just say "Hey, you know what? PC. Choke on it."

Linux is run on PC's, and you're disregarding the evidence here.

Honestly I don't care, I just felt like being hostile. Since Steam came out and I don't have to worry about doing all my own patching or keeping track of cd's or dvd's, I couldn't be happier.

They better, WINE just doesn't work well for me. I swear Steam games are the only reason I'm dualbooting XP.
