Still trying to tackle the PC problems.
I've been having various problems, drive related.
The current state of the PC is that it functions, but some things are a bit funky. Infact today and yesterday it's been running more of less ok, music and video dont work, but I managed to run Second Life and that was ok. It's weird.
Anyway I keep getting disk errors in the event viewer, the actual error is:
'The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block.'
Now, on my computer, the D drive is one of my DVD drives, and it doesnt open, or do anything cause its broke. Is THIS what is causing the problems.
I originally thought the problem was my C: drive (hard drive), ive run Chkdsks on C: and it does nothing. I've tried scheduling a chkdsk on D: but it says ''Cannot open volume for direct access'.
Does the event viewer know that the D drive is my DVD drive, or does it assume that it's my hard drive (C:).
Im thinking of taking out the DVD drive and see how it goes, but is that ok. The front of the PC will have a large open gap where the drive was, which is a bit dodgy sounding to me?
