Seriously, retarded. I still don't get why people get so railed up against gay marriage - it's not like it affects them in any way (unlike what the commercial would want you to believe).

There's a pretty broad swath of people that are convinced that allowing gay marriage legitimizes homosexuality.
Let me break that down, because there's a lot in that statement.
1)There are a lot of people that firmly believe homosexuality is bad/sinful/harmful.
2)Of these people, there are a lot that have fixated on the idea that gay marriage is the one thing that will forever stop the possibility of homosexuals realizing that their behavior is wrong.

Problems with this: Most of the people who believe homosexuality is wrong (in the US anyway) are of the Christian persuasion (or at least identify themselves as such). The problem is that they're waging a war against a certain single social issue, as though somehow they're going to make God happy by doing so. If they'd spend a little more time understand what their faith teaches and a little less time politicking, they might figure out that the Bible actually predicts that stuff like this will happen, and says it's all happening for a reason, and that getting political is the last, worst [non]option for the church.

I didn't watch the video, and I don't want to right now. This is part of why I started the Christianity poll. It's another in a long list of stupid miscues.

EDIT: Okay, watched it...it's stupid. They're fighting against gay marriage instead of fighting for their right to disagree. Wrong tac. If the GLBT (or whatever that acronym is) community wants to make it illegal to disagree with them, that's a step too far...but making that point by fighting gay marriage is a little convoluted.

Also, all the people of faith in the video have conveniently forgotten their faith in light of this issue. If you believe in an all powerful God who's looking out for you...why are you so scared about your liberty?
