    Default [MUSIC] Help me find some music

    The record player thread reminded me of something I've been looking for. Ever since playing Fallout 3 I am looking for music of that type. I think it's 40's-50's music (might be wrong, I'm an ignorant fuck) but I was wondering if you had some advice/artists you could give me I defiantly have to check out.

    For example, stuff like this;

    I don't mean to upset people, but I must speak my mind. For what's in my mind is far more interesting than what's outside my mind.

    One of the best Jazz recordings of all time IMO. No vocals though.

    I'm looking for voices too, I shall look into the bigband genre and see what pops up.

    Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday are my favorite jazz vocalists.
    Nat King Cole - Route 66

    Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit

    As far as swing/big band jazz is concerned, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Fletcher Henderson, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington are all good places to start. Personally I find the guitar work of Charlie Christian, possibly the first electric guitarist, great to listen to.

    Most of the music in Fallout 3 falls under the 'Great American Songbook' sub-genre. Wikipedia has a pretty good list of musicians that were included in the movement.

    Linkage!

    I'd just go through the list on there and search for them in YouTube.

    The old crooners were backed by big bands.
